National Handloom Corporation was designed as a large-scale retail and wholesale textile destination catering to a diverse range of products including handloom fabrics, garments, home furnishings, and lifestyle merchandise. The building's architecture focuses on creating a strong commercial identity through a highly visible façade, large display windows, and bold branding elements that attract customers from a distance. The multi-storey structure maximizes usable floor area while providing an organized and efficient shopping experience.
Requirements
The project required the development of a spacious retail environment capable of accommodating extensive product displays, customer circulation, storage facilities, and operational spaces. The design needed to ensure maximum visibility of merchandise from the exterior while facilitating smooth movement of visitors across multiple levels. Adequate storage, accessibility, and a strong commercial presence were key functional requirements of the project.
Design Intent
The design intent was to create a recognizable retail landmark that reflects the scale and diversity of products offered by the corporation. Large glazed display fronts were incorporated to visually connect the interior merchandise with the street, while the vibrant façade and signage establish a strong brand identity. The overall design emphasizes functionality, visibility, and efficient space utilization, creating an inviting shopping destination for both retail and wholesale customers.
Materials Used
The building incorporates a reinforced concrete structural framework with weather-resistant exterior finishes suitable for commercial use. Large aluminum-framed glazed panels have been used for product display areas, complemented by ACP signage panels and durable painted surfaces. Commercial-grade flooring, steel elements, and energy-efficient lighting systems contribute to the building's durability, ease of maintenance, and long-term operational performance.
